Meet Our Team

  • Dr. Joseph C. Olson

Dr. Olson and his wife Lacey have four children, Rachel, Lilly, Ethan and Jacob. They all love Brigham City and all enjoy being involved in community events and activities. Since moving here in 2012, Dr. Olson has had the opportunity to coach several times for his kids’ city league softball and baseball teams. He had the opportunity to participate in two musicals at the local Heritage Theater, which he had never done before but discovered he really enjoyed. Currently, he sits on the Brigham City Council. The Olsons love camping, hiking, and swimming, but adapt well to winter with plenty of snowball fights and movie nights.

For his education, Dr. Olson received a bachelor’s degree in Russian Language and History from Brigham Young University while completing all the Pre-Med requirements for optometry school. He was then able to attend Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, Tennessee, where both his Grandfather and Uncle attended for their optometry degrees.

After graduating in 2012, Dr. Olson began to practice primary eye care while developing specialty training in fitting specialty contact lenses. His most recent endeavor is to build a viable dry eye clinic to address this rapidly growing issue in the eye care world. He is also excited to be involved in an international clinical study related to macular degeneration.

Dr. Olson’s favorite thing about being an optometrist is getting to know people. He considers many of his patients his friends. If there is any way he can solve their eye related struggles, he will, and he has developed excellent relationships with several local ophthalmologists for cases that can not be solved by conventional means. He has a passion for what he does, and looks forward to many years of practice in Brigham City.

  • Dr.
    Tyson R. Hancock

Dr. Hancock is originally from Plain City, Utah. He and his wife, McKenna, met in Cedar City while attending SUU as she completed her RN degree and he completed a bachelor’s degree in biology while preparing for optometry school. The next stop was Forest Grove, Oregon where Dr. Hancock earned his Doctorate of Optometry from Pacific University. They enjoyed their adventures in Oregon and were excited to move back to Utah to complete clinical training at Eye Institute of Utah, Hoopes Vision, Hill Air Force Base, and Vision Source Evanston. After school, Dr. Hancock was happy to join such a respected practice at Brigham City Eye and Vision Care and plans to be here for years to come. The Hancocks have loved living in the community with their young kids.

Dr. Hancock enjoys seeing patients of all ages with a wide range of visual needs. He loves seeing a whole family come in together for exams. Seeing the immediate impact that improved vision can have on someone’s life is why he chose optometry. In addition to seeing patients in Brigham City, Dr. Hancock also works for a non-profit pediatric clinic in Ogden called Eye Care for Kids. He is very comfortable and enjoys working with kids of all ages.

Dr. Hancock has a strong background in the diagnosis and treatment of a wide range of ocular disease. He is especially interested in the treatment of ocular surface and dry eye disease. These condition are common but complicated. Dr. Hancock is passionate about finding root causes and using innovative treatment technologies and techniques to help patients find lasting relief.

Outside of work, Dr. Hancock has many hobbies and interests. He has always loved being outside and spends as much time as he can hunting, fishing, camping, and exploring. As a father of young children, he loves spending time with his kids learning and experiencing things for the first time.
