Most people clearly understand that glasses can improve your visual clarity, but many people may not understand that glasses also have an impact on visual comfort! Do you ever experience headaches, motion sickness, neck or shoulder pain, eye strain or fatigue, or light sensitivity? Neurolens may be a solution for your symptoms.
Our eyes are very complex! Not only do they have to work appropriately to see things clearly but they also have to work together to be pointed in the right direction, adjust the focusing system appropriately, and relay all of this information in a very precise way to the brain. These neurological pathways are sensitive and require significant precision. Adding to these complex demands is the reality that much of our time nowadays is spent looking at a screen which can further burden our visual system.
Ocular misalignments occur when the eyes want to be pointed in a different direction than what they are supposed to be pointed at to look at something. This is common and is unique to each person. Our eyes have to compensate for these misalignments in order to not have double vision; basically both eyes have to work together to look at the same thing. If our eyes are struggling to do this or are doing it inconsistently then the symptoms listed above can commonly occur.
Options...We have traditional methods of measuring your ocular alignment that we perform during your eye exam. However, these traditional methods can overlook subtle or complex ocular misalignments. This is why our office has chosen to invest in a technology called Neurolens which is explained in the video below.
Neurolens is a technology that utilizes an in office machine to carefully measure your ocular misalignment at multiple distances. This information is then used with your regular glasses prescription to create a lens built custom for you. These lenses use something called contoured prism that precisely corrects for your unique misalignment at each distance. This technology is amazing and the benefits of wearing Neurolens glasses can be significant including reduced headaches, motion sickness, neck or shoulder pain, eye strain or fatigue, or light sensitivity.
More information about Neurolens can be found on the Neurolens Webpage.
